The route east will normally take you along the Ma-19 motorway to the town of Campos, where you need to join the Ma-5120 to Felanitx. Porto Colom is the site of one of the most important, and best preserved, "Naveta" or prehistoric burial sites on Majorca, and for this reason in 1996 the Department of Prehistory of the University of the Balearic Islands established the archaeology project known as "Projecte Closos of Can Gaià", in an attempt to further understand the ancient civilisations of the island. Porto Colom es el sitio de uno de los más importantes y mejor conservados, "Naveta" o enterramientos prehistóricos en Mallorca, y por esta razón en 1996 el Departamento de Prehistoria de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares se estableció el proyecto conocido como la arqueología " Closos projecte de Can Gaià ", en un intento de entender las antiguas civilizaciones de la isla.

Porto Colom still remains a small traditional fishing village, that has so far resisted full scale tourist holiday commercialisation only one or two large hotels hidden away. The main feature of the portocolom town is the large natural harbour, which is the home to a number of small fishing boats yatchets and an ever increasing number of leisure craft for viewing the clear blue waters of the mediterean and its fish. La característica principal de la ciudad Portocolom es el gran puerto natural, que es el hogar de un número de pequeños barcos de pesca yatchets y un número cada vez mayor de las embarcaciones de ocio para ver las claras aguas azules de la mediterean y sus peces. From the harbour looking inland on a clear day, it's also possible to see the  Monks Sanctuary of Sant Salvador in the mountain distance a short drive away.there is also a catalan castle with panoramic views close by. Around the harbour area there is a fair selection of  resturants small neat bars shops for the everyday holiday essentials, along with more souvenir shops behind the beach at Cala Marcal which is blue flag.
