Cala dor today is a modern purpose built fresh and clean holiday destination that has grown from a small traditional Mallorcan fishing village. Over the years the resort has expanded, and now covers an area of over 6km of small sandy coves and creeks with beaches many which are blue flag. Although in all fairness this growth has for the most part been controlled, and the town still has the feeling of a small village with very few, if any, high rise buildings all of the properties are painted white and is a place for artist and painters..
The largest of these coves is called Cala Llonga, which has been developed into a large marina that effectively splits the area in two.
This stylish smart high class resort of Cala d'or is part of the municipal district of Santanyi, on the southern half of the east coast of Mallorca. Although as the crow flies the town is only around 63km, or 38 miles east The journey for those who have chosen to drive is fairly straightforward for the most part, although not especially scenic. Once you've left Palma de mallorca airport grounds you will normally join the main Ma-19 motorway heading east to the town of Campos, Santanyi, this route is well sign posted to Cala dor well before Porto Petro you will find Cala d'or.
Please ignore the route via the Ma-5120 to Felanitx. From here the Ma-14, Ma-4016 and Ma-4013 roads will take you the final few miles into the centre of the village this would be another way to Cala d or. A very scenic route but very server bends on the last part of this route.
