A WAY OF LIFE ONLY FOUND IN SPAIN

Spains history  is well known for its fiestas and celebrations  days and Majorca  Mallorca is no exception. These islanders celebrate the national holidays and have a many traditions of their own.  The most popular is in May, a re-enactment of the battle of the Moors and Christians when the Christians regained control of Majorca  Mallorca balears.

Not all fiestas are based upon religion, many have their history in pagan rites and in many traditions. In most fiestas there is always an emphasis on local food, with fiestas like the one in Sant Joan in October which has a roast meat  feast to celebrate the colder weather or winters arrival.

In addition to the regular festivals there are many other holidays which arw held in ancient sporting festivals and local competitions and meetings. Other popular fiestas no work days are the Santa Catalina Tomas, who is Valldemosas patron saint, and the Festa de Sant Sebastia with its merry go rounds and  local procession day.

Most of the fiestas have exhibitions with local acts dancers musicians bands , "El ball de bot" being a popular traditional dance, and singers, all in traditional local costumes, with parades for children in traditional and fancy dress as well as many other village type side stalls and attractions. Family life is very important in Mallorcan Majorcan culture and these fiesta  holiday day out are a chance for the family to socialise together and maintain the old traditions of Mallorca a trully Spanish way of life in a deep historical way of Spains  native history.
