Maybe James is right – what has the moon got to do with all of this event!? Is even Christian history entwined with pagan heresies?  myths, go oles and pixies.

And Easter eggs! I've never really understood them! It is often claimed that Easter eggs were originally pagan symbols, an idea that Jakob Grimm first popularised, but there is no real evidence for this. Eostre was a pagan goddess, but eggs don't seem to be associated with her worship. A more likely origin is with the Jewish practice, at the Passover Seder, when a hard-boiled egg is dipped in salt water to symbolise both new life and the Passover sacrifice offered at the Temple in Jerusalem.
Of course, the egg has always been an obvious symbol of new life. And the Easter egg traditionally came after Lent when they were strictly  forbidden. In Eastern Christianity, both meat and dairy products are prohibited during this  fast.
